BookCrossing: Statistics

Charts (Bar graphs)

Bar graphs

This page will give you a short overview about those charts on BookCrossing: Statistics and how they should be read. :)

All available charts are indicated on the individual pages by the graphic: chart graphic. They all are based on data I collect each month from BookCrossing.com, starting at a specific date mentioned on each page.

Each charts will have up to 4 fields:

- the year and month
- some charts will have a % value calculated
- the bar graph itself
- the real number for that bar graph

and divided in 2 categories:

- the continue overview from the beginning to the end (by month)
- the difference from month to month (AKA new additions)

All charts are based on numbers specific for the country and within that country, specific for the state/regions. This includes the calculated % values, which will be explained next.

The exist 6 different charts:

1. Total BookCrossers

This is a simple one: it shows you the number of BookCrossers registered for that specific country for each month. More in detail, you can see the number of BookCrossers for each state/region of that country.

2. Total BookCrossers with at least 1 registered book

In fact the same as 1. Total BookCrossers, but only those BookCrossers who have at least one book registered. The % value is calculated upon the total BookCrossers mentioned in 1. Total BookCrossers. This number is probably more accurate to specify the activity of BookCrossing for a country or state/region within that country.

3. Total BookCrossers with at least 1 released book

In fact the same as 1. Total BookCrossers, but only those BookCrossers who have at least one book released. The % value is calculated upon the total BookCrossers mentioned in 1. Total BookCrossers. This number is probably more accurate to specify the activity of BookCrossing for a country or state/region within that country.

4. Total books registered

Again a simple one: it shows you the number of books registered by BookCrossers of that specific country for each month. More in detail, you can see the number of books registered for each state/region of that country.

Note: It's possible to see a negativ number on the books per month list. Book can be deleted (as long as no one else has written a journal-entry), also, a BookCrosser can move from one country to another (and taking his bookshelf with him, of course), and a BookCrosser can ask BookCrossing-Support to delete their BookShelf - whereby al his books will then be found at the bookshelf of AnonymousFinder...

5. Total books released

Here you see the number of books released by BookCrossers of that country for each month. More in detail, you can see the number of books released for each state/region of that country. The % value is calculated upon the total books mentioned in 4. Total books registered. This number is probably more accurate to specify the activity of BookCrossing for a country or state/region within that country.

6. Total BookCrossers with Members Plus (FKA Wings)

Here you see the number of BookCrossers who have had Members Plus (FKA Wings) at the first of each month mentioned. The % value is calculated upon the total BookCrossers mentioned in 3. Total BookCrossers with at least 1 released book. This number is more accurate to specify the active group of BookCrossers for that country or state/region within that country.

Note: The number itself contains BookCrossers and OBCZs. Also, it contains the Wings for a month, for 3 months, for a year and also those, earned while shopping at the bookcrossing-store...

Enough information now, here the list of different charts at BookCrossing: Statistics. And don't forget, on the statistic pages itself, this symbol chart graphic tells you, there is a chart to look after :)
